One of my favorite package of bulbs that I purchased from Home Depot in 2009 was the Acidanthera. These plants have a bloom that smell so good and are very pretty as well. I knew when I was moving from Florida that  had to bring some with me to Kentucky. When I put the bulbs in the ground in April here in Lexington it wasn’t long until I saw the foliage pop up through the ground. In Jacksonville Acidanthera bloomed from June through Ocotber, off and on. June and July came and went and I was disappointed because I had not seen a sign of any blooms. Finally on August 25 I saw that one of the plants was starting to get buds. Then on September 3 the buds opened up and showed it’s beautiful self and scent. Now that plant is blooming and the other plant is about to bloom.

I plan on leaving one of the plants in the ground during the winter and digging another one out to keep and protect in the garage. If you haven’t tried this plant then I urge you to try it. You will not regret it at all.
