Sizzling Blooms

It has been hot! The first 7 days of August averaged a high of 90f and a low of 70f. Both are 4 degrees above where we should be for the first 7 days of this month. We have also seen nothing but a few sprinkles of rain one day. This week we are suppose to go into the extreme heat again but a local meteorologist is saying there is a possibility of more cooler and permeant weather settling in after this week. I can only hope so…

Today I give you two pictures of two plants that are on the south side of my house and that puts them in the hottest area. One is a ten foot Sunflower grown from seed called Sunflower ‘Mammoth’. The other picture is of Society Garlic. They will keep blooming until frost and I think they may keep blooming until a hard frost. A little light frost didn’t seem to effect them in Florida. I am testing them outside here in Kentucky this winter.
